Yoda is arguably the greatest Grand Jedi Master in the history of the Jedi Order. He lived up to 900 years old. Being a tiny wrinkled, green creatrue often lead to under-estimation about his power and skill. He could successfully weild a lightsaber and had advanced force techniques.

During the first episode he is confronted by Qui-Gon Jinn about a boy who he belives is the chosen one, born to bring balance to the force. He denies his training though, due to fear he sences in the boy. He believes it will send him to the Dark Side. After Qui-Gon's death his Padawan Obi-Wan Kenobi tells him he must train the boy, so Yoda reluctantly accepts. 

After Obi-Wan showed him the Grand Army of Clone Troopers who had been trained without the authorisation of anyone, by Sifo-Dyas, he reveals this to the senate. He goes over to Geonsis with them to go and save Jedi there. He fights Count Dooku who runs away before they can capture him. 

At the end of the 3rd film he and Obi-Wan Kenobi are the only remaining Jedi, after the Purge of the Order. He goes to murder the Grand Sith Lord, Darth Sidious. He fails and goes into hiding.

He is again revealed at the 5th film, after Obi-Wan guides Luke, the son of Darth Vader (Anakin Skywalker), who turned to the Dark Side of the force, to him. Yoda, again reluctantly trains him. He passes away at the 6th film after he had successfully trained Luke.
